Meet the River's Edge Outfitters Cherokee Guides
|
Our staff of thirteen guides is some of the very best you'll find anywhere, nine are members of the North Carolina Fly Fishing Team, the winingest fly fishing team in the country.
We guide all the waters in the WNC Fly Fishing Trail, including the new Fly Fishing Only Catch and Release section of the Raven Fork in Cherokee, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park,
the Nantahala River, Tuckasegee River, Little Tennessee River, Cullasaja River, Horsepasture River, Chattooga River, the South Holston and Watauga River. The Great Smoky
Mountains National Park is our backyard and as such we specialize in guiding backcountry wild mountain trout excursions to Deep Creek, Hazel Creek, Noland Creek, Eagle Creek,
Bradley Fork, Oconoluftee River, Little River and many others.
If you've read about a stream in the park and would like to fish it, just let us know, we can make it happen. All of our guides were chosen not only for their skills and local stream
knowledge, but for their personalities and abilities to teach. A great guide is someone who not only is an excellent teacher and instructor who seamlessly passes along his/her knowledge,
but someone who is a great companion, one you don't mind spending a day with on the water.

Nick Johnson - Guide

 |
Nick grew up in Franklin, North Carolina. Some of his first memories were of him and his dad fishing together.
Nick recieved much experience as a young boy chasing the trout that swam in the waters of Jones creek in Cartoogachaye.
Later on Nick and his family moved to Rockwell, North Carolina. While he lived there he returned to Franklin often to chase the trout he grew up fishing for. Living in Rockwell, he met other fisherman that introduced him to fly fishing in the new area.
He spent much time on High Rock lake, Badin lake and the Uwharrie National Forest's river.
|
Shortly after finishing high school, Nick returned to the mountains of North Carolina. This allowed him to pursue his dreams of becoming a fly fishing guide.Trout, small and largemouth bass, carp, crappie and bluegill are among Nick's favorite species to pursue with the fly rod.
Nick loves to fish the remote streams and rivers of the surrounding areas. It is always a pleasure of Nick's to instruct other's in the art of fly fishing. There's no greater accomplishment to him that putting someone on trophy fish.
